Touring Limousine by Freestone and Webb of London. A one-off design with great elegance. This particular car has its own moment of fame as the Captain’s Car in "Dad’s Army" TV series.

It is a rare for a pre-War Wraith to be offered for sale anywhere in Australia as there is only a dozen or so examples in the country. There is also, we concede, a very limited pool of buyers. What they will get is a motor car full of fascinating details, from the Art Deco clock to the opening front windshield or the old-fashioned heater, rare even in a Rolls-Royce at this time.

The paintwork is flawed on most panels and the trim, which is mostly original, is definitely showing its age. We would call it character and suggest that the car could be enjoyed just as it is for many years to come. Still, opportunities to acquire a one-off Rolls-Royce from the Golden Age of coachbuilding together with a TV history are few and far between.

There is a large history file that records regular maintenance. The car starts on the button and is running well but we are not in a position to offer an opinion as to the car’s mechanical condition. Prospective purchasers should inspect the car and make their own assessment.
