Some things once seen can never be forgotten. In Melbourne in the 1970s, one larger-than-life Brighton identity determined that his new Rolls-Royce would never be mistaken for anybody else’s and for many years this car was seen parked, usually illegally, outside many of this city’s best restaurants and best shops. Its Flying Lady mascot was stolen on more than one occasion and respectable Melburnians whispered scandalous stories about its owner and his one-of-kind Rolls-Royce.
Specially ordered at Conduit St and delivered through Kellow-Falkiner , this vibrant primrose yellow was specially formulated and Magnolia Connolly hides were chosen for the interior. The long wheelbase version was chosen as it was the top-of-the-range and a Cream Everflex roof with a privacy rear window ordered for good measure.
That was then but some enthusiasts are getting excited about cars from the 1970s and hunting down interesting examples. This must be a candidate. Like any car that’s nearly fifty years old it’s had lot’s of work done to it over the years and will undoubtedly require more in the future. It’s driving really well but sadly, it didn’t come to us with any handbooks or receipts. Prospective purchasers should inspect the car to satisfy themselves as to its condition and they just might end up purchasing a unique motor car.
