Likely the best Silver Seraph in Australia although, admittedly, that is from a small number of candidates. On sale from 1998 until 2002, this model marked the transition from Rolls-Royce being a long-established British-owned marque to it becoming part of the BMW Group and features elements of both. The styling draws on earlier models, especially the Silver Shadow, while the silky V-12 is 100 percent BMW. The model didn’t sell particularly well as a new car but time has seen an appreciation of its many finer qualities and values now substantially outperform the closely-related Bentley cars of the same period.
Our example is one of the rare update models, recognisable by its clear indicator lenses. It was commissioned by the Melbourne Rolls-Royce Dealer and specified by their talented New Car Manager, selecting a very traditional Rolls-Royce colour scheme of gloss Black with Tan hide and lashings of Burr Walnut. Twin fine-lines, veneer picnic tables, lambswool rugs and a sunroof enhance the ambience.
The car has had just two owners, the last for nearly twenty years. In their ownership, the car was always maintained by the authorised agents and is offered with all its original owners manuals and two original keys. The icing on the cake is that during this time the car has been enthusiastically maintained in concours-winning condition. Indeed, few cars have won as many RROCA awards as this superb motor car.
It may be years before another equivalent example comes onto the market. Don’t regret missing this one.
